- The store associate scans the UPC at the register as currently
done for all products.
- For UPCs supported by SIRAS Electronic Registration,
a prompt at the register notifies the store associate to scan the
serial number.
- The POS system appends the date/time of sale and the store number
to the transaction.
- This record is transmitted via EDI or XML to the SIRAS national
database for future access.
- The serial number on the product is printed on the sales receipt.
