Using SIRAS Electronic Registration, a product’s unique serial number is electronically registered at the point of sale. This information then is stored in the SIRAS national database for future use to:

  1. Verify a product’s eligibility for return/refund
  2. Validate a product’s eligibility for warranty entitlement and, if eligible, provide contact information for local Authorized Service Centers that can perform the repair work. Also, the phone number for the manufacturer’s customer service desk is provided.
  3. Identify return trend activities to facilitate discussions between manufacturers and retailers to help them better support returns management initiatives.
